Part community-building activity, part local exploration, part learning about Buddhist, this day promises to be lots of fun!
Brief Summary:
At 10am, we’ll gather at a sangha member’s house in inner SE Portland, near SE 33rd and Hawthorne. We’ll split up into teams of three to five people.
Then from roughly 10:15am to 1:00pm, we’ll drive around Portland with our team, completing various missions and taking pictures or recording short videos, such as meditating together in a park for five minutes, taking a picture of a Buddha state taller than you, or stepping inside a Buddhist temple.
Among the 20 or 30 possible tasks, of which you certainly won’t have time to fully complete, there will also be some get-to-know-each-other components.
Around 1pm we’ll gather back at the sangha member’s house, partake in a potluck, and share the photos and videos from our scavenger hunts.
I’m still deciding on this part, but right now, I’m thinking each task will have a point value associated with it — and the “winning team” will be the one not with the least amount of points or the least amount of points, but the middlest amount of points! What do you win? It’s a surprise!!
Logistical Notes
It’s best to think of this day as no partial attendance, and planning to come roughly on time. It’s possible we’ll end before 3pm, but good to leave the schedule open until then.
If we don’t have at least 12 people signed up, we’ll probably pivot to getting lunch together or something like that. I’ll say more about this if the date is closer and not many people are signed up.
Potluck Notes
At 1pm’ish, we’ll have a community potluck. Bring a dish to share.
If you aren’t sure if you want to come, because it sounds stressful to bring food, don’t worry about it — just come! Your presence is much more valuable!
