In this talk, we will explore the Brahma Viharas as “sublime attitudes.” In particular, our approach will draw upon the “Right Attitude” teachings of Sayadaw U Tejaniya, the Buddha’s third foundation of mindfulness, and skillful ways to recognize & develop more skillful or “sublime” attitudes. The focus will be particularly on our attitudes in relationship, as the Brahma Viharas are primarily pointing at our relational life.
Along the way, we’ll also touch on the difference between a conventional “good attitude” and a “sublime attitude,” my all-time favorite attitude teaching, and the most important things to know about attitude practice.
