Mindfulness of the Body

Wed, 1/7/26, from 7-9pm @ 2926 NE Flander’s Street in NE Portland

This workshop will explore how mindful embodiment is both an incredible tool for present-moment-awareness, as well as a means of developing intuitive wisdom. We’ll invite a curious approach that will look to notice & feel what’s actually happening in our bodies, whether pleasant or unpleasant, without reactivity.

We’ll try out a few different body awareness meditations, with an eye to a form of mindful embodiment that can happen while meditating as well as in our daily lives.

Mindfulness of Breathing

Wed, 1/14/26, from 7-9pm @ 2926 NE Flander’s Street in NE Portland

This workshop will explore how mindfulness of breathing is both an incredible tool for present-moment-awareness, as well as a means of developing deep wisdom & peace.

We’ll try out a couple different approaches to mindfulness of breathing, discuss best practices, and cover how to work with common challenges (i.e. getting tense, spacing out, unconsciously controlling the breath, the breath disappearing). We’ll draw upon the Buddha’s formal instructions as well as our direct experience.

We’ll also see how the breath is an incredible tool to learn about the mind-body connection, and also invites a deeper ease in our own skin.

Natural Mindfulness

Wed, 1/21/26, from 7-9pm @ 2926 NE Flander’s Street in NE Portland

In this workshop, we’ll explore how to access and abide in the natural mindful presence that’s always here. Sometimes called open awareness, it’s a mode where we put aside the doing and efforting and just rest.

After getting a feel for what this mode is like, and how it differs from “open monitoring,” we’ll take on the biggest challenge: just spacing out in thought the whole time, while believing ourselves to be meditating.

We’ll also give some attention to how this is an incredible method to take into our daily life, as it doesn’t require stillness, focus, or concentration. We can literally touch into it during any activity, whether that’s reading, talking, computer working, or doing jumping jacks while hoola hooping!
