Buddhist Relaxation – Dharma Talk by David Sudar (9/21/2021)

Details:

Originally given on 9/21/2021 at the Path of Sincerity Tuesday night Sangha, by David Sudar.

Description:

Typically, the word relaxation means something like bubble baths, having a few beers, watching some TV, or receiving a massage.  However, in the meditative sense relaxation points at something much deeper.  Sayadaw U Tejaniya’s first instruction to new meditators is often to “relax.”  However, while it may initially point to relaxing the body, relaxing our expectations, and just settling into this moment, it continues to deepen as we relax subtle and subtler layers of the mind.  At the core, relaxation is a doorway into wisdom.

In this talk, we’ll explore all these deepening layers of relaxation.
